Gosainkunda Festival Trek is also known as Gosaikunda trekking and trek tour in Gosainkunda, specially designed for Hindu devotees and also for those people who has an interest in Nepal festivals can do this trek. This trek starts normally at the end of August to the first week of September. This festival is celebrated on Gosainkunda Lake which is situated in Rasuwa district. This is one of the sacred religious sites for Hindu pilgrims where the great festival is held on August on full moon day.

On the auspicious august full moon day, Hindu pilgrims from Nepal and India gather in Gosainkunda Lake to take holy bath. According to various Hindu religious books, Gosainkunda Lake is directly related to Lord Shiva and Hindu people believe that if they take holy bath in this lake once in their life time their past sins will be washed away and they get ultimate. On Janai Purnima, Hindus chants the Gayatri Mantra and change their Sacred thread (Janai), and as Rakshya Bandhan, a red or yellow protection cord is tied around the wrists of believers by the priest. Here, a pool with an image of Shiva at its center is filled with water and is believed to have come from Gosainkunda. The scene of Gosainkunda is located at elevation 4360 meters, north of Kathmandu and just south of the Langtang range. It is quite exciting and is well worth the climb up to the site. The traditional faith healers also known as Krishna, dressed in belted white robes and crowned with porcupine quills and peacock feathers, performs ritual dances to sore drumbeats day and night day. People from all over Nepal and India gather in energetic song, dance and intense devotions, camping and cooking in makeshift shelters.

In Gosainkunda festival trek all the visitors are welcome. In the morning the lake’s edge turns red with vermillion powder and the air is saturated with sweet incense. It is one of the beautiful trees that you will ever see.
