Upper Mustang Trek Detail Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu:
Our representatives will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and take you to the hotel where you will be briefly explained about your trekking package. You will spend the comforting night at the hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu:
This day, you will be taken to the day long tour around Kathmandu Valley. Visits include shrines at Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath (also known as Monkey Temple) and Bouddhanath and Durbar Squares of Basantapur and other two nearby amazing cities of Patan and Bhaktapur. After completing the sightseeing in Kathmandu, you will return to the hotel and spend the rest of the night.
Day 03: Fly or drive to Pokhara:
It’s a short flight of mere 25 minutes from Kathmandu to Pokhara which offers the bird’s eye view of Manaslu Mountain. Alternatively, we can take a 5 hrs long drive via Prithvi Highway to make it to the beautiful Lake City of Pokhara where we will stay in a hotel.
Day 04: Fly to Jomsom and trek to Kagbeni:
A brief flight from Pokhara takes us to Jomsom-the hub of Mustang Region from where our trekking commences. We will head forward enjoying the splendid views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Dhampus and Tukuche and then descend to Kagbeni-a Tibetan village and an entry point of the Upper Mustang.
Day 05: Trek to Chele:
Today’s trail heads further to the eastern bank of Kaligandaki River and ascends uphill through Tangbe Village to Chhusang Village. Later we will cross the Kaligandaki River on a steel footbridge and climb the hill upward to the village of Chele which is situated on a ridge above the gorge where we will stay overnight at a camp.
Day 06: Trek to Syangboche:
We will make our way through the steep and barren landscape and lower down the hill. We will pass through chortens to Samar from where the trail ascends further to a ridge before lowering to a large ravine. Later we will climb up the ridge at 3800m by moving across juniper trees. The route prolongs through Ramchung Cave to Syangboche.
Day 07: Trek to Ghami:
Today’s trek let us travel through Tibetan styled local houses, tea houses and chorten before taking us to the Yamda La. After a brief rest, we will ascend further to Nyi Pass. A bit far from the Pass is located Ghami- a small village encircled with rugged mountains.
Day 08: Trek to Charang:
We will have a casual stroll through Mani walls before climbing down to Charang. Enroute, we will visit the huge five-storey white Dzong and red Gompa situated at the edge of gorge Kali Gandaki on the eastern edge of village. Charang is a large scattered village which is positioned atop the Great Canyon of Charang Chu and it is inhabited entirely by Lobos.
Day 09: Trek to Lo- Manthang:
We will lower down from Charang and cross the Charang-Chu from where we will ascend uphill through rocky path all the way to a piled up stones. This place serves as the vantage point offering the first look into walled city of Lo-Manthang. Later will descend and move upward through another plateau to reach Lo-Manthang where we will spend the night.
Day 10: Rest day in Lo-Manthang:
This day is taken as a rest day. We will stretch our tired muscles and lie down. Later we will explore around Lo- Manthang during which we will visit the western valley of Tingkhar to the summer palace of the Raja. The place offers majestic views of Kimling, Phuwa and the Namgyal Gompa.
Day 11: Trek to Drakmar:
Enroute to Dramkar, we will visit the wish fulfill-er -Gyokar Gompa which according to Locals was established more than 1200 years ago. Later we will ascend upward through a ridge across a valley to arrive to a meadow. We will lower down and follow the eroded path to arrive at Drakmar.
Day 12: Trek to Ghiling:
Today’s trail passes through dusty and windy road to Ghiling. A large portion of Ghiling is barren but the wonderful views of Mount Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri it presents make Ghiling worth visiting.
Day 13: Trek to Chhuksang:
Today’s trail follows the easy trail all the way down to Chhuksang where we will enjoy the terraced field and the spectacular mountain views. We will stay overnight in Chhuksang.
Day 14: Trek to Kagbeni and to Jomsom:
This day concludes Upper Mustang Trekking. We will take a casual stroll to the southern border of the region and proceed to Kagbeni. From Kagbeni, we will walk along the bank of Kali Gandaki River to make it to Jomsom where we will stay overnight.
Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara:
The 20 minutes flight from Jomsom Airport will take us to Pokhara. The flight offers beautiful views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. While in Pokhara, we will take a rest in a hotel.
Day 16: Drive or take a flight back to Kathmandu:
It takes 25-minute flight or 6 hours bus tour to make it to Kathmandu. We will return to our hotel where you will enjoy the Nepali dish amid the cultural show performed on your honor.
Day 17: Departure from Kathmandu:
Farewell! It’s the day to say goodbye. Our representative will assist you in last moment preparation and will drive you back to Airport from where you will return to your beloved ones. We hope to see you again. Farewell!!!
