The Great Himalaya Trail trek is a web of existing trails which together form one of the longest and highest walking trails in the world winding 4500 km through the tallest mountain ranges and most isolated communities from Tibet to Pakistan. Himalayan Treks and Expedition invites travelers interested in one of the world’s most remote and beautiful challenges to join us as we operate each of the seven stages of independent trekking stages. The Great Himalaya Trail is more than a line on a map. Indeed, it is a way to enjoy the beauty of the Himalaya while helping the people who live there.

Several people have traveled the arc of the Himalaya before and Richard and Adrian Crane, cousins of television presenter Nicholas Crane, actually ran the Great Himalaya Trail Trek in 1983. The idea of a clear and designated route for trekkers is more recent. The trail begins near Kanchenjunga on the eastern border and heads towards the west crossing the domains of eight of the world’s 8000 m peaks including the beautiful Makalu to the famous Everest. The route offers an incredible diversity in terms of landscapes, flora & fauna, people, and culture. During the trail, you can see leopards, red pandas, from the sub-tropical jungle and fragile high-altitude Eco-systems, Sherpas, Shamanism and ancient Bön Buddhist culture of Humla. If you’ve been on a trek to a remote wilderness, you’ll likely appreciate the people and cultures you encounter along the way. Everybody will not have the time to attempt the whole route but it is possible to walk sections or do short treks in the areas the GHT passes.

Himalayan Treks and Expedition is proud to offer Great Himalaya Trail Trek in the beginning of February each year. You will be delighted to visit this trekking trail and can be the one and best opportunity in your whole lifetime.
