Jumla Rara Lake Trekking takes you to up to the lake area of Rara, which combines the beauty of neat and pine forest with an outstanding views of the surrounding hills and mountains. Rara is Nepal’s smallest and most scenic national park that covers 106 square kilometers that is situated about 370 kilometers, north-west of Kathmandu. The centerpiece of Jumla Rara Lake Trek is the pristine Lake Rara, also known as Mahendra Tal and is the largest lake in Nepal.

The trek to Rara Lake begins at Jumla, a village where the rides are covered with forests and alpine pastures. Our trek begins from the mountain airstrip of Jumla after flying from Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. Then the trail passes through green landscape. Jumla Rara Lake Trekking throughout provides unusual sights of a culture and scenery is quite different from that found elsewhere in Nepal. And it eventually culminates to the Rara Lake inside Rara National Park. This beautiful high altitude Rara Lake is surrounded by alpine meadows and forests of pine and juniper, whereas in the background you can view the magnificent snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. The Jumla Rara Lake trekking route is not heavily traveled, but it passes through a region that affords cultural interactions and scenery quite different from the rest of Nepal. The entire route is ‘off the beaten trail’ which involves the adventure of Ghurchi Lagna pass at 3450 m on the way to Rara Lake and a few points at around 3000 meters when hiking on the way back. During the trek you may meet followers of Hinduism and immigrant Tibetan families.

Trekking here involves a great deal of up-and-down walking through forests and isolated villages. Mostly you remain at lower elevations, reaching a high elevation of 12,243 feet at Danphe pass. Also with Keen Adventures treks and Expedition you can spend two days at Baridiya National Park, where you can do elephant safari through the lush jungle.
