Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a pleasant journey through diverse Nepalese culture and natural beauties. Approximately, 25 miles north from Pokhara you can get a completely different environment and the tremendous scene will surely attract you. Annapurna region, which is also considered a paradise on earth is rich in its own culture and has a unique social life. Taking through green foothills, infertile of the world’s deepest Kaligandaki and subtropical forest adorned with rhododendrons and many other wildflowers, it reflects other unique species of flora and fauna.

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek basically takes 7 to 11 days. The starting point for this trek will be Pokhara which is also a good starting trek for other short treks. This area is easily accessible because, guest houses in the hills are plentiful, and treks here offer incredibly diverse scenery, with both lowland and high mountains. Also, the entire area is occupied, and trekking in the region offers unique cultural exposure and experience. The raptors or birds of prey in the sky are most likely to catch your eye. Bird species found in this region are the multi-colored Impeyan, koala, and blood pheasant among a multitude of other birds, butterflies and insects. Nepal’s King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation launched the Annapurna Conservation Area Project in 1968.

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek Itinerary is designed for those trekkers who wish to reach the Annapurna base camp stress-free with visits to World Heritage Sites and Ghorepani Poon Hill. The Annapurna Sanctuary trekking starts through forested hillsides before arriving at the Sanctuary with its panoramic views of the Annapurna.

The close-up mountain views at higher altitudes are perhaps the finest in the world. There is a day to explore this breathtaking mountain before returning to Pokhara via a different route. So you can plan for an amazing trip to Annapurna Sanctuary Trek.

Itinerary Detail

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

You will find our representatives there at the Airport, ready to greet you when you land at the International Airport in Kathmandu. They will receive you with your name and take you to the hotel where you will be briefly explained about the itinerary package. You will spend the rest of the time at the hotel.

Day 02: Exploration Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu 

On the second day, you will be taken out for an excursion to some of the chief sites in and around Kathmandu. Visits include the Hindu temple complex of Pashupatinath, the Monkey Temple and the Narayanhiti Palace Museum in Kathmandu. Later we will head for the ancient cities of Patan and Bhaktapur.

Pashupatinath is one of the most prominent Hindu Temple of Lord Shiva in the world. Its significance can be known by the fact of it being enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Monkey Temple is popular among Nepalese as Swayambhunath. It is located at the top of a hillock that lies to the west of Kathmandu Valley. Swayambhunath was named monkey temple after the holy monkeys that dwell in the north- western parts of the temple complex.

Narayanhiti Palace Museum is the former abode of the deposed Shah King of Nepal which was later converted to the museum after Nepal was declared Republic. The crown jewel it possesses is regarded as the most valuable objects in Nepal.

Patan which is also known as Manigal is the ancient city located in Kathmandu Valley which is famous for its rich cultural heritage and arts.

Bhaktapur translated into English becomes a city of devotees. The Nyatapol Temple, The Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Siddha Pokhari, 55-windowed palace, and museum are some worth-the-watch sites.

 

Day 03: Drive/Fly to Pokhara

We will take a bus ride and pursue along Prithvi Highway for 6-7 hrs drive to reach Pokhara, Or 30 minutes Flight. We will spend our night in a hotel at Pokhara. If you feel like exploring, we can take a boat ride on Phewa Lake while in Pokhara. Pokhara is one of the famous tourist destinations in Nepal.

Day 04: Drive to Phedi and Trek to Pothana

Today we will drive from Pokhara to Phedi. From there we will start our trek and will walk to Dhampus which is a Gurung settlement located at 1500 m altitude. After a brief rest, we will upper ward to reach Pothana which locates itself at 1900 m altitude.

Day 05: Trek to Landruk

The trail follows through stone steps all the way up to a pass. Later we will pass through a Gurung village and lower down to reach the stream. We will cross the suspension bridge and climb up the hill. We will pass on the narrow trail that is carved around the hill to finally arrive at Landruk where we will stay overnight.

Day 06: Trek to Jhinu Dand/Hot spring 

From Landruk, we will lower down the hill and pass through rhododendron and pine forest to arrive at a river. From there, we will cross the new bridge to arrive at Jhinu Danda which locates itself at 1720m altitude. We will stay overnight at Jhinu Danda.

Day 07: Trek to Sinwa

Today we will lower down the hill and pass through a dense forest of rhododendron to reach to Sinwa. Sinwa is a Gurung Village located at 2360m altitude. The whole journey takes about 4 hrs to complete. We will stay overnight at a guesthouse in Sinwa.

Day 08: Trek to Deurali

On the 8th day, we will have a gentle descent before climbing the hill to reach to Deurali which exists at 3200 m altitude. It takes about five hours of walking to reach Deurali from Sinwa. We will stay overnight in Deurali.

 

Day 09: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp

The journey from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp can be completed in about 3 hrs. From Deurali, we will follow the trail all the way up to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). ABC is also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary as it is the protected area of the Nepal government. ABC offers the spectacular views of mountains and the nearby locality. We will stay overnight in a camp at ABC.

Day 10: Trek to Bamboo

After early breakfast, we will lower down the hill and follow the quiet easy trail to reach to Bamboo which exists at 2540m altitude. We will stay in Bamboo overnight. Today’s journey takes 7hrs of a walk to complete.

Day 11: Trek to Chhomrong:

It takes 4-5 hours of walking to reach to Chhomrong. We will begin our journey by long and steep stone stairs and pass through rhododendron forest. Later we will arrive at Banuwa. From there we will pass through a small village at Tilche and cross the suspension bridge over Chhomrong Khola to reach Chhomrong where we will stay overnight.

Day 12: Trek to Tadapani

We will pass through some small Gurung settlements, a landslide, and a suspension bridge before climbing the steep hill until Tadapani. Today’s trek will be 5-6hrs long. Amazing views of sunrise on Machhapuchhre Himal and other scenic views of Gangapurna and Annapurna Himal Range can be viewed from Tadapani where we will stay overnight.

Day 13: Trek to Ghorepani

This day, we will lower down through rhododendron forest and take a brief ascend before lowering down to reach Ghorepani which locates itself at 2850m altitude. We can have a sight of many beautifully decorated horse and mule caravans in Ghorepani where we will stay overnight.

Day 14: Move to Pokhara

From Ghorepani, we will trek through Nangethati, Banthanti, Ulleri, Tirkhedhunga and Birethanti to reach to Nayapul. The bus is available in Nayapul which will take us to Pokhara in less than 2 hours.

Day 15: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu

A 25-minute flight from Pokhara will take us to Kathmandu. Alternatively, we can take a bus ride for about 6 to 7 hours to reach Kathmandu. We will have our evening dinner at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 16: Departure from Kathmandu, Farewell!!

Our team members will assist you in last minute preparations and will drop you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport. We bid you farewell and hope to serve you again!!
